The Twisted Pig of Sumter (drive thru): Reviews & Ratings
We had the brisket plate with 3 bone rib add on. The brisket plate comes with three sides. I chose potato salad, mac n cheese, and hush puppies. The brisket was very good and tender, but only comes with two thin strips. The ribs had great flavor and are nearly falling off the bone. The mac n cheese lacked flavor and was not great. The potato salad seemed store bought. The hush puppies were good, but you only get three. Overall food tasted good, but potion sizes were small. I would go there again and probably by the meat per the pound or racks of ribs and make my own sides. Paid just over $20 per person with tip.
The Twisted Pig has amazing food. So far I’ve had the Sweet Heat BBQ Brisket, BBQ Chicken, Wings, Hush Puppies, Green Beans, Mac & Cheese, Yams, French Fries. The Mac & Cheese and Yams are really good. The BBQ Chicken needs a lot of work. It tastes like it was frozen then boiled with little to no seasoning. Overall, the food is a must have. Probably the best BBQ in town.
Atmosphere was amazing. Service was on point. Food top-notch for Sumter. The brisket tacos were mouthwatering. The meat was tender. Everything was very flavorful and hot. The fries are delicious with the seasoning salt on them. The green beans are out of this world in the Oreo, delight for dessert was The icing on the cake. I have not had a better brisket in my life.
Picked up from The Twisted Pig and was pleasantly surprised! No dine-in, just pickup or drive-thru, which I actually prefer. The food was fresh, and the fried chicken was the highlight — super crispy and flavorful. Their sauces were on point too. Only downside was the mac and cheese — a bit bland for my taste. Customer service was fine — nothing rude, just quick and to the point. Didn’t have to wait long at all. I’d definitely go back, especially for that chicken!
Brisket was moist and soft, pulled apart easily. Sweet tea was on point. I'll try the pork next time.
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on what they were selling. After getting hash and rice using liver from another establishment I ask before ordering blindly from a new place. They knew that they only used the butt for their pork and hash. We ordered two pulled pork with three sides to go. My wife got fried okra for two sides and ate it faster than a shop vac could pick it up. The pork has nice bark, a good smoky flavor and good overall taste. The hash and rice were as advertised and good too. I had the cowboy beans and chocolate dessert for my other two sides. Both would be ordered on a return visit. The staff also provided a sampler of their sauces since we were first time customers. All three we tried were good with the best tasting going to the mustard base. I didn't try the vinegar base sauce. Meat does not appear to be smoked on location based on appearance and the lack of a smoker on site.
Stopped in to grab dinner to go. The ladies behind the counter were super friendly and very hospitable! But man was the brisket the star of the show! Had a 2 hour drive home. When I got home it was still moist and tender. Smokey but not over powering. The Carolina gold bbq sauce was my favorite, but they have other options too! This place is a must check out when in Sumter!
My crew and I needed a lunch spot so I suggested the Twisted pig & boy was that a great decision! The staff is super friendly & prices are just right and the atmosphere in here is perfect. I can't wait to eat i already know everything is gunna be off the chart.
